All the beaches of the riviera del Conero
At the extreme south of the Bay of Portonovo, you reach the beach of Vela, unmistakable for its uncontaminated beauty a “wild beach” very fascinated to enjoy the sea and fishing subnel respect the rules in the summer season.
Famous for the sail-shaped rock that faces the end of the beach, this stretch of coast is the last swimming area at the foot of the north side of the Conero.

Portonovo in summer is very popular with the anconitani and tourists, who reach it along the only and steep asphalt road that comes off the Conero provincial road. The 94 line of city buses connects Portonovo to the center of Ancona and a free shuttle service runs with the parking above it, close to the provincial road No. 1 “Del Conero”.
The Portonovo beach obtained the Blue Flag in 2000 and 2002; the assignment was then suspended for some years pending the connection of the sewers. In 2010, once the work was completed, it again obtained the Blue Flag , confirmed also in the following years. (Wikipedia)
Reach the rock of the Trave and simple, the route is easy but pay attention to the bans for accidental collapses.
The Trave beach is located north of the Mezzavalle beach. Reachable by sea or by land, through two simple paths that take you from the Conero provincial road, it is a sandy and wild beach. A characteristic element is the Trave, a long natural rock that stretches over 1km above sea level, the natural site of the Mosciolo di Portonovo, the delicious mussel of the bay. Characteristic of the beach is the presence on the coast of clay accumulations, which are used by bathers for invigorating mud baths.
For those who love unspoiled nature, at the extreme north of the Bay of Portonovo is the beach of Mezzavalle, accessible from the sea or from two paths that start from the Conero provincial road.
We advise you to wear tennis shoes to walk the paths without any problem, get in the nature and discover one of the most suggestive points of the Adriatic.
Here the coastline is more sandy than in the rest of the bay, bathing is free but there are however toilets, showers and a restaurant.
